Where I coached: 17 years in HS (Deerborne (FL) Millard North (NE), 7 years in college (Bellevue University head coach 6 years, Creighton Asst 1 year), 33 years in club all RC. Where I played: University of Miami (FL). Why I love coaching: I have loved coaching for five full decades. The exhilaration of watching players and teams develop through hard work and having fun are what I feel are keys to success. Coaching youth sports is so much more than the sport, it is about life lessons and learning from adversity to be prepared for those later life scenarios. I consider myself lucky, because I get to do what I love to do and call it work!

Number of years of coaching 3: First year coaching for RC. Where I coached: 1 year previous coaching for Omaha Road Runners, and 1 year coaching in Bermuda. Where I played: I played school and Junior national team for Bermuda, Played competitive beach Volleyball in Bermuda, and recreational volleyball in Spain and Omaha. Why I love coaching: I love coaching as firstly I love the sport and love being around it as much as I can. Secondly, being able to help the younger generations learn and play volleyball brings me much joy. Lastly teaching has always been a draw in for me and have always found myself enjoying amy format of teaching, as I was a TEFL language teacher in Spain.

Why I love coaching: Although this is my first year coaching, I am super excited to be a coach, help young girls grow in their confidence, enhance their volleyball skills, and watch them learn lessons throughout the way that will guide them throughout life. I am the person I am today because of volleyball and the coaches that trained me, so I can’t wait to be that person for the girls I get to coach.

Various sand and indoor leagues. Why I love coaching: It’s easy to say “I love volleyball,” but I truly enjoy the game. I enjoy teaching the game but also learning and improving as a coach. One of the most rewarding parts of coaching is to see players succeed in improving a skill that they thought they couldn’t do. Seeing kids take those steps forward make it fun!

Number of years of coaching: I have had the priveledge of coaching for 3 years but have played the game for 30 years. I have always enjoyed helping other beginner players that have played in the adult coed and men’s leagues in Omaha. Where I coached: I coached in Lexington, NE in the 90s and came back to coaching 2 years ago here in Omaha. Where I played: I started playing volleyball at the age of 14. I played men’s high school volleyball at Saddleback High School in Santa Ana, California. I continued to play recreationally after graduating from high school. I played intramural volleyball leagues while in college and have played numerous tournaments in Nebraska for over 20 years. I have also played national tournaments through NAGVA in cities such as Dallas, Wisconsin Dells, St. Louis, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, Columbus among others. Why I love coaching: I love coaching because it offers me a different view of the sport through each player because of their different understanding and level of play. I have learned to appreciate the sport even more by seeing the improvement players make throughout the season. Helping young players achieve their goals is rewarding and it helps me become a better coach and player.

Number of years of coaching: 20 years Where I coached: I began coaching volleyball right out of college at both the YMCA and PAL league. I then started coaching at TVA when my oldest began to play. This is my 6th year coaching at TVA and my first year coaching club volleyball. Where I played: I starting playing volleyball in elementary school and loved the game so much that I have never stopped. I was fortunate to be able to play for my high school team in Norfolk and continued my career at Drake University where I was a four year starter. GO BULLDOGS! Why I love coaching: Three simple words…I LOVE VOLLEYBALL. I love the game so much that I want to stay involved on multiple levels. Volleyball is so much more than just a sport but an opportunity to grow and develop volleyball skills and self-confidence on and off the court. Where I played: Club ball 5yrs, most recently made 1st year RCJ 17Navy. Why I love coaching: I want to motivate and encourage kids to love the game as much as I do for the right reasons. I want to learn to be the coach they won't forget! They deserve to have a positive coaching experience!!

Number of years of coaching: This will be my second year coaching under Deb. Where I coached: My first year, I taught TVA league. As I get ready to head into my second year, I am excited for the opportunity to coach for River City Juniors. Where I played: I played volleyball for Millard South High School for four years, two of them being on varsity. While in high school, I played under Deb for River City Juniors on 17 Navy and 18 Navy. I then went on to play for the University of Northern Iowa's club volleyball team, where we attended nationals every year. Why I love coaching: I love coaching because I love to build relationships with the girls and see how much they can grow in such a short period of time. It is a cool experience to have my love for the game of volleyball and passion for teaching, transpire into coaching. The players are so eager to learn more each practice and that is truly seen by their development throughout the season.
