Competitive Club Teams
New for 2024
This year River City Jrs will have two seasons. Separate from each other and two tryouts.
Tryout #1 (Regular Boys Club Season) will be Oct. 5, 2024 from 8a-11am. This tryout we will select boys for 18u, 16u, 14u, and 12u teams. The season will begin Nov. 2, 2024 and end the last week of Feb or 1st week of March, depending on final tournament.
Tryout #2 (National Season) will be Apr 26, 2024 from 9a-11a. This tryout will be for a 18s and 16s teams, if the numbers support two complete teams. These teams will train to attend the National Tournament in Orlando. Tournament dates for 2025 are projected to be June 29-July 2 (wave 1) June 3-July 6 (wave 2). Teams will play in wave 1 or wave 2 for four days.
Players do not have to play in the regular season to tryout for the National season. Players from other clubs not attending the AAU Nationals are welcome to tryout and attend the national tournament if they make one of our teams. It is not a violation or illegal for any player to change clubs and continue to play if their club is not going to Nationals. Players may not be on two different teams and or clubs in any tournament.
Boys volleyball is growing across the US... There are 36 states that have HS boys VB (sorry, not NE or IA). It really is split for anyone competing in club or HS or both. About 5 or 6 states play HS Boys VB in the fall the same as the girl's season. The remaining 30ish play in the spring. Many of these states also play club but cannot compete in club tournaments during their HS season.
So, the Club season begins for many in Nov and continues into early March, then takes a break for HS season, then resumes once HS season is over. Many of those teams will play in tournaments again in May and finish at Nationals in Orlando in June/July. Our 18u and 16u teams will be attending Nationals in Orlando. So this year RC will be having Regular Club season and a National season.
Our Levels of Competition
The National Level teams will play in Omaha and regional events as well as National level events. The Club season will begin in early Nov and will conclude in Feb/early March. The second season is the National season, from May to late June/early July and includes with the national tournament in Orlando. Players will have to tryout for the National season on Apr 26.
The Regional Level teams will play in Omaha and within a 2-4 hour drive of Omaha. The season will begin in early Nov. at the same time as the National level team and will conclude in Feb/early Mar.
River City Juniors hosts two levels of competition for boys teams. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for boys to play and to grow the game of volleyball. Currently we plan to have four teams for boys who want to play in the 12-18u age groups.
We will field a team at the levels posted to the right and we have a minimum of 8 per team.
We have 1 or 2 spots available for assistant coaches. If you are interested in coaching a boys team please contact Deb @ [email protected].

RC Club vs TVA League
There are major differences between playing in a league and playing in a club.
We host several leagues throughout the year, either through River City Jrs or TVA. Both organizations run the leagues in similar fashion and are run by the same coaches. It is all dependent on the time of year which organization is the one running the league.
